Splendour in the Grass is unveiling Splendour XR, a bold and world-first extended reality festival, on July 24th and 25th. Available on mobile, tablet, browser, desktop, and VR, the innovative Australian festival will deliver a solid lineup of over 50 acts led by Khalid, CHVRCHES, Denzel Curry, Duke Dumont, and Tash Sultana on day one, and The Killers, Charli XCX, Vance Joy, and Kaytranada on day two. Grimes will also reveal an exclusive first-ever performance of Grimes Metaverse (Super Beta). See the lineup below.

Beyond the stacked lineup, Splendour XR is launching an ambitious virtual world melting the lines of music, art, and culture. They’ve recently announced The Forum, Global Village, Little Splendour, Comedy Club, and Tipi Forest – thorough activations set to make this a premier virtual festival. See more information about each activation below, and be sure to purchase a ticket for $26 before prices increase on July 16th. Exclusive party packs are also available here.

Delve into deep deliberation, speculation, and contemplation at The Forum! Protagonists, politicians, poets, a former Federal Police Commissioner, academics, journalists, actors, educators, writers, composers, comedians, scientists, and survivors all collide spectacularly to examine topics such as consent, the future of drugs, AI bias, music, and mental health, and gaming soundtracks, and more. 2021 Australian of the Year, Grace Tame, will also deliver a keynote speech set to create headlines.

Kick off your day with a great mix of culture, mindfulness, and performance at the zen oasis of The Global Village. Celebrate First Nations wisdom as you learn about native bush tucker, meditation to connect to country, decolonization, rewilding, storytelling, sound healing, and spirituality. Dive into Taoist philosophy and consciousness, tantric wisdom and Kundalini dance, movement mediation, sexuality, tapping, yoga, and environmental education. And enjoy performances as varied as cabaret, spoken word and storytelling, circus arts, music, drum and dance, and more.

Whether you spent quarantine watching every set on your favorite streaming platform or constantly go down YouTube comedy rabbit holes, this one is for you. Australia’s most debaucherously funny humans are taking over Splendour XR’s giggle-inducing Comedy Club. With nearly 20 sets promised, it’s a great reason to take a break from the music for a great laugh.

Get weird, get loose, and shake it! If you’re ready to dance, click your way to the Tipi Forest at sunset and celebrate with a wild sonic manifestation of pure underground sounds, from Bass to Glitch, House to Techno, Trap to Trance, and everything in between. All created just for you by some of the finest and freshest acts from Byron Bay and beyond.

Calling all pint-sized punk rockers! Splendour XR’s resident cool kid on the block, Little Splendour, is packed with kids-only adventures.

Little Splendour will treat rug rats to performances by some of Australia’s most popular children’s bands and performers. Settle the kids in for storytime and lol to the antics of clowns and balloon artists. Feel the rhythm with drumming and percussion and learn about caring for the planet through nature crafts, recycling, animals, and edible flowers. Finally, watch them marvel at incredible stilt walkers and songs about visiting the skate park.

Splendour XR hits your screen of choice from Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 July and will operate LIVE globally on a single timezone, 12 pm to 2 am AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) (GMT +11), with programming kicking off from 2 pm. All video content will be available as video on demand (VOD) for seven days after the event. It will be available via the web and mobile versions; the virtual world will not be accessible.
