“Relapse” is off the forthcoming project, Neptune.

R&B showstopper Gallant returns today with an emotional new single, “Relapse.,” the second release from his forthcoming project, Neptune.

A somber, delicate slow-burner, the track finds the Grammy-nominated visionary contemplative and deep-diving on visceral, soul-searching lyricism amidst subtle guitar plucks and hazy beats. A lo-fi visualizer capturing Gallant’s words over picturesque scenes accompany the release – further accentuating the nostalgia ruminating throughout the song. Watch below.

“’Relapse.’ means a lot to me,” shares Gallant. “It was the first song I wrote for Neptune after I could sense things weren’t working out between me and my former label. I just wanted to make something that could transport me back to the way things used to be, in all my relationships— including the one with the world around me and my relationship with myself.”

Recalling the carefree summers of his youth, Gallant sought to capture those escaping moments where “you don’t have to keep track of the days anymore” and are instead free to be yourself. “Something you can keep going back to that seems like it was made for you and only you. Like the safety of that one song, you found buried deep in the tracklist of that new album you just got. Something that won’t ever leave you and is finally fully yours.”

Widening the scope of confessional R&B and thought-provoking cinematic concepts, Gallant emerged in 2016 with his Grammy-nominated debut album, Ology, which debuted in the Top 25 of the Billboard Top 200, among other notable accomplishments.

Hundreds of millions of streams, sold-out tours, and various coveted festival sets later; Gallant is preparing to unveil his new project, Neptune, which will include his song “Comeback” and once again prove why the Maryland native is unrivaled.
