Major Lazer is back with the release of their fourth album, Music Is The Weapon. Long known to absorb a smorgasbord of international influences, the new album is a testament to the group’s chameleonic sound and global approach. The album includes songs in five languages and features collaborations with emerging artists and superstars from around the globe whom the group has encountered on their travels.

Music Is The Weapon is Major Lazer’s return after five long years. The album features the tracks we’ve already been bumping like “Que Calor” with J Balvin and El Alfa, “Trigger” with Khalid, “QueLoQue” with Paloma Mami, and “Oh My Gawd” with Mr Eazi, K4mo, and Nicki Minaj. Anitta also made a welcomed return – collaborating again with the group on the Latin Grammy-nominated “Rave de Favela.”

The international affair doesn’t stop there. Rising stars Shenseea and BEAM douse “Tiny” with Jamaican flavor, Busy Signal and Joeboy bring dancehall heat on “Sun Comes Up. While Indian producer Nucleya and vocalist Rashmeet Kaur connect on the desi bass track “Jadi Buti.” The album additionally features collaborations with Alessia Cara, French Montana, Marcus Mumford, Skip Marley, and more.

The new album is supported by various compelling visuals. In addition to lyric videos for each track, six Lazerism episodes launched on Spotify to further explore the album’s backstory. The group also performed an exclusive DJ set on Twitch to celebrate the release, marking the first time the trio has played together from one location on a livestream — watch here.

Another sign of the times, this month the band is playing a series of socially distant, drive-in Major Lazer Sound System shows in Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, and more —see full dates below. Music Is The Weapon follows 2015s Peace Is The Mission, featuring “Lean On” with DJ Snake and MØ—one of the most successful songs of all time. Major Lazer is the global dance trio of Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drums.
