Conan Gray is back with a stunning new song, “Astronomy” that’s poised to be another runaway hit for the Texas native. Much like his 2020 breakout album, Kid Krow, Conan’s new song finds the young crooner at his best – contemplative, on the guitar, and with a distinctly fresh perspective to an eroding relationship.

“’Astronomy’ is about that slow, painful, often denial-inducing process of growing apart from somebody,” shares Conan. “That moment when all of a sudden you look at that person you’ve loved for years and realize you no longer know them. That you two exist on two different worlds now. I find the worst heartbreaks happen slowly. No blowout fight and slamming doors and showing up on doorsteps while it’s raining. Just a gradual decaying of love with nothing left to do to stop it from slipping away. There’s no explanation, nobody to blame. That hurts the most.”

Life has been a whirlwind for Conan Gray since Soundazed spoke with the pop star at Lollapalooza. His album was one of the largest debuts of the year and closing in on 4 billion streams in three years is only the tip of the iceberg. Gray has been unstoppable, picking up support from Sir Elton John, Taylor Swift, and others, while simultaneously converting the ruminating thoughts scribbled on paper in his bedroom into chart-topping hits.

This year, Conan has already released a bop called “Overdrive” and has signaled more music is on the way. Following up his gold-certified album, which featured a pair of platinum singles—“Heather” and “Maniac” – won’t be easy but by all means, Conan Gray’s new music is proving the best is yet to come.
