Coachella returns April 10-12, 17-19: Wkd 2 Tickets

Earlier this week, Coachella unveiled its 2020 lineup and noticeably missing from the three-day festival’s top line was a female headliner. The last few years have seen Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé command the summit but a quick glance at this year’s lineup and the highest billed female artist is Album of the Year nominee, Lana Del Rey, on Sunday.

While there’s no denying we need more female, non-binary, and queer headliners/performers at major events like Coachella, the festival is still providing a platform for a diverse cast of amazing female musicians worth checking out, so, today we’re highlighting 10 must-see female artists at Coachella 2020.

Megan Thee Stallion

The world thanks Megan Thee Stallion for #HotGirlSummer and this April, Megan is bringing Houston heat to the desert with her mixtape, Fever. I’m not missing it. “Sex Talk” and “Simon Says” are going to pop off and could you imagine if she brought out Saturday performer DaBaby for “Cash Shit”?! Iconic.

Sampa the Great

Zambian-Australian artist Sampa the Great is making her Coachella debut after dropping her latest album, The Return, last September. It has the potential to be one of the best sets of the weekend. Check out “OMG” for a taste of the unique flavors Sampa is bringing to Coachella.

Kim Petras

If you’re into high-energy, bubblegum pop, Kim Petras is just for you. The German star just wrapped her sold-out Clarity tour and it was simply incredible. Kim’s vocals were on point, outfit changes turned every head, and her songs about designers, diamonds, and “Icy” heartbreak will be unmissable when she makes her Coachella debut.

Doja Cat

LA rapper Doja Cat is making her descent upon Coachella and if the short trip down to Indio is anything like her “Rules” video, we’re in for a “Juicy” performance. Leading up to the November release of her album, Hot Pink, the rising artist has been one of most talked about musicians in the game. In April, she’ll prove why on Coachella’s stage.

Anitta

Get ready to dance. Brazilian pop star Anitta is bringing tropical flavors to Coachella this April and it’s going to be an insane set. Dropping tracks from her latest album, Kisses, as well as collabs with everyone from J Balvin, DJ Snake, Ozuna, and more, the Rio native will not disappoint.

Mariah the Scientist

Atlanta singer-songwriter Mariah the Scientist makes her Coachella debut on the heels of her magnificent new project, MASTER. An intimate album that finds the young artist exposing equally vulnerable and powerful lyrics about navigating love and relationships, over luscious R&B melodies.  If we say “Beetlejuice” three times, will we see you at her set?

Peggy Gou

Grab your friends and get to Peggy Gou‘s Coachella set ready to let loose. The Berlin-based South Korean DJ throws down nothing but good vibes and with a new DJ-Kicks EP and Mix under her belt, her upcoming Coachella set is promising the perfect soundtrack to a summery weekend.

FKA twigs

FKA twigs is hands down one of the best performers I’ve ever seen live. She moves on stage with laser precision and her vocal range is out of this world. Almost a year after sending shockwaves with her down-tempo lead single “Cellophane” – the British singer-songwriter returns in support of her album, Magdalene, ready to put on a mainstage-worthy performance.

Summer Walker

Summer Walker is not “Playing Games” when it comes to her music. The rising R&B artist just dropped her debut album, Over It and it’s already spawned a few hits for the young singer. From her “Come Thru” remix of Usher’s classic to her Jhene Aiko collab “I’ll Kill You,” Walker’s Coachella performance should be on everyone’s weekend schedule.

Whipped Cream

Don’t let the name fool you, WHIPPED CREAM is coming to melt faces at Coachella and we’re so here for it. The genre-bending artist is known for bringing the bass, as seen with her explosive sets at EDC Las Vegas, Electric Forest, and others. Now the Vancouver artist has her sights set on the Coachella desert and it’s going to be epic.
