Ellie Goulding’s Flux” is out now on Polydor Records
Is there anything better than a beautiful ballad by Ellie Goulding? I don’t think so. On Thursday night, the British pop star released her latest single, “Flux” and it’s absolutely incredible. The track is the anthesis of the stratospheric pop that dominated and defined Goulding’s third album, Delirium and 2018 single, “Close To Me” with Diplo and Swae Lee. Instead, we find Ellie Goulding at the piano in a stunning black and white video that perfectly complements Goulding’s raw, visceral howl and emotional lyrics. Check out the video for “Flux” below.
“‘Flux’ is a song that I wrote entirely from the heart that seemed to capture how I felt about not ever being able to let go of a past love, even though it was over for a reason,” says Goulding in a press release. “I feel like I am in a constant state of change and upheaval and it makes me unable to root myself and get over things easily… on this record, I found myself taking inspiration from different relationships and stages in my life,” she continued.
“To reflect on how being on tour non-stop, performing, and having to be “ok” all the time affected me as a human being and how it took its toll on my relationships. I no longer wish to sugarcoat things and that honesty is the only way I can throw things out for good.” ‘Flux’ is off Ellie Goulding’s highly-anticipated fourth album which is due later this year.
