“I’m Done” is out via Copenhagen Records
Meet Mina Okabe – Denmark’s latest emerging voice, deserving of your attention. This week, the 20-year-old artist is unveiling her debut single, “I’m Done,” a relatable sentiment we’ve definitely all felt at some point this year. While poignant and honest, Okabe takes a lighter approach to her first official offering, delivering lustrous vocals over an earworm electric guitar melody.
“I’m Done” was created within the four walls of Mina’s Copenhagen bedroom, but her influences clearly point to international sensibilities. Born and raised in London by her Danish and Japanese parents, and eventually moving to New York, Manila, and now, Denmark, the singer’s lyrics on transition and irreversible decisions leading to regret feels cathartic while channeling a bevy of elements from alt-pop and jazz to even a bit of soul.
