“Midwest” is available now via Sumoclic Records: Stream

Australian artist Maxwell Byrne aka Golden Vessel is back with a new single, “midwest.” The track explores an interesting sound informed by hues of twangy electro-Americana blended with Max’s signature lo-fi indie-pop. Written ahead of a U.S. cross-country trip, the song possesses a unique vibe while discussing hitting the road and welcoming change.

Our first taste of new music, “Midwest,” will appear on Golden Vessel’s anticipated second album, colt. The single was co-written by The Nicholas, Lonelyspeck & George Nicholas. It also arrives with a great music video co-created by Max and Matthew Howard. Together, the release gives a strong glimpse into the American escapism, open roads, and experiences influencing the new album. Watch below.

Discussing the release, Golden Vessel shares: “this is the first single from “colt,” which is a road trip album and sonically came about by my friend Emerson Leif lending me his Hofner bass guitar.” The album drops in early 2021 via Sumoclic – a new label started by Max and his friend Connor Grant (Akurei).

Golden Vessel’s new record is the follow-up to his stellar debut album, SLOWSHINE. We caught up with Max during his 22-date debut tour across North America to discuss the 2019 release. Stream “Midwest” and see Golden Vessel coverage here
