Seriously, at 16 years old, the future megastar is absolutely everywhere and on an unbelievable rise only achieved by a handful of notable pop predecessors. She’s also been on tour literally all year putting in WORK and the high-energy performances to loyal, screaming fans are deservedly paying off. Since the August 2017 release of her critically-acclaimed debut EP, don’t smile at me, Eilish has quickly sprung from rising artist to one of the world’s undisputed pop front-runners, now confidently boasting over 24 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Thankfully, the young vocalist has recently served up some must-hear, moody pop tracks to appease eager fans — perhaps indicating one of the highest-anticipated debut albums of the decade is on the way.
In April, after wrapping her completely sold-outWhere’s My Mind Tour, Eilish dropped the track “lovely” alongside R&B artist Khalid. The single found immediate success and has accumulated nearly 280 million streams on Spotify and 150+ million views on YouTube. The single is also now Billie’s most-streamed track to date… though that is subject and very likely to change. And while that may have been enough for most, we’ve only scratched the surface with this young prodigy.
In May, Eilish announced she would be co-hosting her own show called Groupies Have Feelings Too on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio, of course, before filling her summer with festival performances around North America… including one I caught atBonnaroo, and others atLollapalooza, Music Midtown,Osheaga, and Outside Lands. Billie also announced her forthcoming 1 on 1 Tour would run through November, surprise-released her smash single, “you should see me in a crown,” and joinedFlorence + the Machinefor a few dates on theHigh As Hope Tourbefore closing out her week with a divine performance atAll Things Go Fall Classicin early October.

Weeks after seeing swarms of people at Fall Classic very clearly in attendance to see Billie Eilish, the 1 on 1 Tour arrived for two sold-out shows at DC’s9:30 Club. We knew the show was going to be an absolute madhouse, and sure enough, we entered a sea of fans completely neon-ed out in head to toe tour merch and all buzzing with excitement. You can’t blame anyone, though. Billie’s shows are wild and carefree — within the first few minutes, she’s literally running across the stage, jumping on the speaker systems, reaching out for screaming fans’ equally over-extended arms, and delivering a near-perfect vocal performance. It’s hypnotizing, powerful, and undoubtedly confirms why a Billie Eilish concert ticket was one of the hottest items of the year and will be the must-have concert ticket for 2019. Especially once her debut album drops.
Billie Eilish will re-join Florence + the Machine‘s Australian tour leg in January before running through the European leg of her sold-out headlining tour. At the very least, everyone can rest assured Billie will be ready to return to the arenas she’s playing alongside Florence Welch, except next time as the headliner she deserves to be.
