Like a phoenix rising from the ashes in the song’s stunning music video, Danish superstar MØ returns today with an unstoppable new track, “Live to Survive.”
Two years on from the crowd-surfing, club-packing tour supporting her stellar second album, the queen of punchy, power pop returns with a complete serve that highlights her distinct, howling vocals over a swirling disco-pop melody complements of the wizard SG Lewis. If this is new era, MØ, I’m here for it.
No longer sporting blond locks, MØ looks like she just stepped out of 2014 in the best way, and she’s armed with a futuristic, mind-melting rocket of a track that’s launching her iconic sound to new heights. In the director’s chair for one of the “Kamikaze” singer’s best videos is Joanna Nordahl. Watch her masterpiece.
“‘Live to Survive’ is a song about pulling yourself back up after the crash of a toxic relationship to someone or something,” says MØ. “It’s a reminder that life is a constant dance of ups and downs and that the downs are OK. We’re here for it, ready to survive another heartache and rebuild ourselves again and again.”
Co-created with Sly and Caroline Ailin (Dua L., Katy P.), the song follows Forever Neverland and the internet-shattering debut, No Mythologies to Follow. Already achieving well-documented success for her unique approach to music, and with the first glimpse of her next chapter proving to be an absolute hit, it’s clear the next release MØ has been cooking up will be well worth the wait.
