Grammy-winning producer Flume has released a collection of previously unheard music on a new album called, Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan, out today on Future Classic. The release marks a decade since Flume’s self-titled debut album, which established his highly-lauded signature sound while garnering billions of streams and Platinum sales across multiple countries. To celebrate the anniversary, Flume will headline at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles on May 5, with support from Chet Faker and Kučka. Tickets here.

Based on recent social media posts it seems the music was culled from laptops and hard drives stashed away while Flume worked on other projects. Fans displayed significant nostalgia around the ten-year anniversary of his debut album with mounting requests to share more music after the release of the early demo, “Slugger 1.4 [2014 Export.WAV],” in late 2022. It appears Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan may be the response. The album features Injury Reserve, Panda Bear, and Isabella Manfredi, who Flume has collaborated with in the past, and showcases his treasured eclectic sound, with a mix of experimental and vocal material, uplifting cinematic moments, wonky beats, a return to hip hop, and classic song-driven material.

The release follows a year that saw Flume mostly on the road, including a main stage slot at Coachella, and the May 2022 release of his third studio album, Palaces, which arrived to international praise and six ARIA Award nominations. The album features “Say Nothing” with MAY-A, which recently claimed the summit on Triple J’s annual Hottest 100 countdown, making Flume one of only two artists to ever nab #1 twice on the prestigious list.

Flume has solidified his place as a global headliner, with a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album and four Grammy nominations to his name. He has sold over 300,000 tickets across a sold-out world tour, and has played at festivals worldwide, including Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and Japan’s Summersonic. With Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan, Flume continues to showcase his versatility and unique lane in the world of electronic music. Listen below.
