Debut EP, MOTOR FUNCTION, out August 13 via FADER Label
Meet binki – one of your future favorite artists. Just seconds into his new single, “Clay Pigeon” and I promise you’ll be hooked. It’s impossible not to be.
Kickdrums and a memorable guitar crack the song open ala “Song 2” by Blur, and like its predecessor, binki’s song is perfect for a FIFA game. It’s only appropriate the music video sees binki playing video games and appearing on an outdoor soccer field. See the “Clay Pigeon” video directed by binki’s brother Justin Ongeri below.
“Clay Pigeon is a song about vulnerability,” explains binki. “A clay pigeon is someone I want to open up to me or invest time in, but I’m not willing to do the same. I wanna play along but I got no skin in the game. I was in a situation where I was more focused on my dreams than building a relationship. I think it happens to a lot of people and I’m just trying to navigate those feelings in this song.” With the song, binki announces, MOTOR FUNCTION, a 4-track EP due 08/13 via FADER Label.
Born to Kenyan immigrants in Pennsylvania, the UNC grad has released four singles since 2018, which garnered a cult following to the tune of millions of streams, heavy rotational play on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1, and opening spots for Still Woozy, BENNEE, and Johnny Utah. With his debut EP on the way, you can’t miss binki.
