CALM is out via Interscope Records

5 Seconds of Summer have shared their highly-anticipated fourth studio album, CALM. Released Friday, the title is an acronym of the member’s first names; Calum, Ashton, Luke and Michael, and is also “a nod to our fans that coined us that name in our early days” the Australian band shares.

CALM is incredibly honest and dreamy – it explores different types of relationships while making sure listeners know how important self-reflection is. The band boldly explores new sound fields and while realizing their full vision, in turn achieving a new level of deep emotion. Undeniably, the quartet delivered their best album yet.

The album has a song for each of your mood and surely, everyone will find at least one track they enjoy. The lead single, “Easier” was released last spring and peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart and No. 48 on the Hot 100. Check out the full album below and my personal favorites, “Red Desert” and “Lonely Heart.”

5SOS worked with Tom Morello, Sierra Deaton, and The Edge, as well as other songwriters that contributed to the making of their previous album “Youngblood,” such as Ali Tamposi and Andrew Wotman.

Prior to its release, the band unveiled a four-track “Relaxation” Remix collection via the popular meditation app, Calm. A remix for each member was crafted: “Easier” (Michael), “Old Me” (Calum), “Red Desert” (Ashton), “Best Years” (Luke). “Mindfulness is something that has become very important to us as a band over the last couple of years. We’ve all gotten into meditation and truly value the importance of it,” explained 5SOS on Twitter.

As part of the U.S. exclusive signed album, the band shared an extra song, “Kill My Time.” New CALM and Wildflower merch are also available with lead vocalist Luke Hemmings sharing, “one dollar from each sale goes to the Plus1 Fund to help people affected or at risk of COVID-19.”

In addition to an IG live stream listening party and band Q&A, Hemmings also appeared on The Tonight Show’s “At Home” edition, giving an incredible performance of the acoustic version of the track “Old Me.” The album arrives ahead of international tour dates that begin in May. See all future dates here and stream CALM.
