INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY due April 14 on Fueled by Ramen

Pop/rock three-piece Waterparks has announced the release date of its fifth studio album, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, due for release on April 14th, 2023, via Fueled by Ramen. In celebration of the announcement, the band has also dropped the fourth single from the album, “REAL SUPER DARK,” which showcases a heavier, experimental side of the band, while still maintaining elements of pop, punk, and rock in their genre-bending signature sound.

The band gave fans a taste of “REAL SUPER DARK” and its preceding singles last year in the midst of various global tour dates, including a U.S. cross-country run on the Nothing Matters Tour with recent collaborator blackbear. In October, the band also unveiled the incendiary “FUCK ABOUT IT” (feat. blackbear), following the confessional “SELF-SABOTAGE,” which was given a fresh take with a collaboration featuring Good Charlotte.

In an interview with Kerrang!, Awsten Knight, the band’s frontman, described the album as an expansion of everything that Waterparks does best, with a perfect balance between the poetry from their 2018 album Entertainment and the “blunt crazy” elements of their FANDOM album.

In support of INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, Waterparks will also embark on a massive North American headline run this spring. Dubbed the “PROPERTY TOUR,” the 30-date trek launches on April 28 in Anaheim, CA, and hits major cities including Chicago, New York, Boston, and more before wrapping in the summer at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre on June 13. Many of the tour dates are already sold out, and due to popular demand, second shows in Chicago and LA have been added.

Additionally, the trio will play two U.S. festival performances later in the year at Adjacent Festival in Atlantic City, NJ (May) and When We Were Young in Las Vegas (Oct.). With the release of their new album and upcoming tour, Waterparks is definitely a band worth listening to and catching live.
