“Don’t Be Afraid” is out via Globe Town Records

It’s not always easy to shake it off and move forward when feeling anxious and isolated. On Tycho Jones‘ new single “Don’t Be Afraid,” the London newcomer pens poignant self-directed lyrics while escaping his crushing feelings.

“Don’t Be Afraid” took shape after a deep patch of anxiety the singer-songwriter faced while in New Zealand. “After three intense days of isolation and panic attacks, it just poured out of me. Most of the song was a freestyle that was my unconscious trying to encourage myself to focus on reality and get out of my head,” Jones shares on the new single.

While deeply personal, Tycho’s new track is an empathetic anthem for battling self-doubt. Influenced by genre-bending sounds, the song fuses electronic and indie rock elements with distorted synth work, ethereal vocals, and buzzing guitars. The new song also complements recent singles “Endorphins” and “Pseudo” in its pensive self-examination and distinct delivery.

“Don’t Be Afraid” is the fourth single of the year for Tycho Jones. After his debut single “Scrolling” in 2019, the rising artist kicked off 2020 with “Serotonin” and continues to release lyrically honest and emotional tracks. He’s certainly an artist to watch and his latest single is just further evidence of the fact. Stream below.
