“Digebasse” is out via Black Lotus/BMG
With only two songs released thus far, it’s already clear genre-bending artist CHAII has sights set on global domination. Last week, the New Zealand-based Persian artist shared her single “Digebasse” alongside Sydney rapper B Wise and it’s total fire.
“Digebasse” carries a positive and uplifting vibe, yet a bold delivery with an unapologetic flow akin to M.I.A. The track fuses Farsi and English over southern-Iranian inspired drum patterns while encouraging listeners “to say ‘enough’ and to stand up for your rights.” Check out CHAII’s self-directed visual filmed in Oman.
Vibrant colors and striking stylings characterize the guerilla-style video, with a powerful Middle Eastern backdrop hinting at the artist’s diverse upbringing. “Digebasse” follows CHAII’s debut single “South” which was featured by Fendi in a campaign earlier this year. While we’ve only gotten two songs from the rising artist, it’s obvious her flame is burning brightly and I’m definitely ready for more. Stream “Digebasse” on all DSPs.
