Sam Sparro Shares 90s-Inspired “Outside The Blue” Maxi-Single: Stream

Sam Sparro’s first album in 8 years due in 2020

Grammy-nominated artist Sam Sparro is following up the release of his lush and soulful comeback single “Outside the Blue” featuring We Are KING with a new maxi-single for the track noting, “my new project is a tribute to the era of maxi-singles, cassingles and 12″ records. I wanted that to be reflected in the releases so I’ve included an (almost) a cappella version of the song and the instrumental version. As a record collector, I always love finding vinyl that has all those extra versions on the B-side.”

The maxi-single also features a new remix from LA-based producer and DJ Knights of Zion, whose monthly LA dance party called Nebula carries the spirit of the Ballroom scene he grew up in and is influenced by the likes of Paradise Garage and Studio 54. The song is also a love song and the remix is a fitting one, as Zion is also Sparro’s husband.

“Outside the Blue” is influenced by the likes of Janet Jackson, Sade, Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder and The Jones Girls. The trio wanted “Outside the Blue” to also feel like you were underwater and above the clouds at the same time, and the song is the first new song from both Sparro and Grammy-nominated We Are KING since 2016. The track will feature on Sparro’s highly-anticipated album in 2020 and follows his three-part Quantum Physical EP series.
