“Best Friend Song” is out via S-Curve Records: Stream
A bond between best friends is a sacred connection. They’re by your side to weather life’s unpredictable turns, have a wild night out or in the world of social distancing – have a Zoom happy hour. It’s also an unwavering relationship inspiring singer-songwriter Rozzi‘s new single, “Best Friend Song.”
What started as an inside joke between the powerhouse vocalist and her longtime soul sister is now immortalized in song. “It started as a tribute to my friendship with Tatti, and to make her laugh,” Rozzi explains. “We lived together for so many years, through college and beyond, but she was moving in with her boyfriend, so I was sad. It was the end of an era. I didn’t want to write a weepy song though. I wanted to do something fun, and never for a moment imagined it would end up being released as my first single.” Listen below.
“Best Friend Song” is Rozzi’s first single since signing with S-Curve Records last year. The track was written with Charlie Snyder and Zak Waters, with label head Steve Greenberg, electronic duo AJR, Michael Mangini, and Zak Waters on production. Together, the team behind Rozzi’s returning track unveil a pop anthem perfectly highlighting the San Francisco-born artist’s lighthearted lyrics and soaring vocal prowess. The song is also the first preview of Rozzi’s forthcoming debut album with S-Curve.
Emerging in 2015, Rozzi is a passionate artist with a bluesy timbre and bold range. After collaborating with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T, a sold-out arena tour supporting Maroon 5 (during which she dueted nightly with the band on “Moves Like Jagger”), and steady musical output, the rising singer and songwriter delivered her first full-length album, Bad Together, in 2018. Now, Rozzi is ready to tell the next chapter of her story and we’re eager to hear what’s next.
