“Placebo Effect” is out on Darkroom/Interscope

Rising teen artist d4vd has unveiled his highly-anticipated new song, “Placebo Effect.” The visceral track is an emotional experience of unrequited love, backed by ambient mournful instrumentals, as he comes to terms with the realization that his feelings were nothing more than a placebo effect of the real thing.

“Placebo Effect” follows his highly acclaimed singles, “Romantic Homicide,” which is spending its 22nd week on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #1 on Spotify’s US Viral chart, and “Here With Me,” which is spending its 5th week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and hit a new global Spotify peak at #13. To support his snowballing success, the 17-year-old is set to embark on his debut headlining tour tonight, February 17, starting at White Oak Music Hall in Houston, before traveling to Los Angeles, London, Paris, New York, and finally Toronto. The tour sold out within minutes of going on sale, a testament to d4vd’s ever-growing popularity.

What’s impressive about d4vd’s journey is his DIY approach to making music. After facing copyright strikes on his gaming youtube channel, he began recording his own music in his sister’s closet on the BandLab app. Now, he’s making waves with his genre-defying singles, featuring influences ranging from R&B to indie rock. With the release of “Placebo Effect,” d4vd has shown once again that he’s a visionary just getting started, and critics seem to agree with the young artist having been recently named one of Zane Lowe’s 23 Artists To Watch In 2023 and a hero artist for Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch 2023.
