Milwaukee sister duo REYNA reflects on life’s emotional rollercoaster with Quarantine Baby,” a melodramatic bop bound to exhaust your replay button.

Produced by Salt Cathedral, “Quarantine Baby” is about maintaining connection while distanced by a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. The song condenses the sinking uncertainty many felt last year into four minutes of indie-pop perfection highlighted by subdued instrumentation and filtered vocals.

“Quarantine Baby” follows wonderful bilingual tracks, “Coachella” and “7’11,” which sees the duo comfortably embracing their heritage while dismissing the notion of not feeling “American enough for Americans or Mexican enough for Mexicans.” Accompanying their first single of the year is a nostalgic DIY music video. Watch below.

Sharing on the new single, Gab says: “We wrote this in March 2020 when lockdown had just started. We would lounge around with drinks and a guitar and write all day. Vic would sit on the floor and FaceTime her girlfriend for hours. Talking about how much they missed each other and how long it would be before they saw each other again. It got me thinking about how many long-distance relationships or any relationship would actually make it through covid. It’s been such a rough year for all of us COVID came and changed our lives. We’ve all lost people or jobs, even relationships.”

Vic adds, “When I listen to this song, it makes me smile because we’ve all found a way to get through it. We have found ways to stay connected, to find love, or to get through heartbreak during a pandemic.”

REYNA has gained glowing support in the last few years. They’ve opened for CHVRCHES, Kesha, The Naked and Famous, and X Ambassadors, received a co-sign by Tegan & Sara, and their track “The Way I Loved You,” which was recorded at Capitol Records Studios, was also remixed by RAC. Clearly only the beginning for a duo so effortlessly talented and enjoyable.
