Ahead of the release of her debut album, i used to think i could fly, Canadian pop star Tate McRae touched base in our nation’s capital at the 9:30 Club for a jaw-dropping headlining performance. She was joined by two phenomenal artists, Mimi Webb and Gayle.

The sold-out show kicked off with GAYLE guitar in hand, rocking away and pumping up the crowd. You might’ve heard her trending song “abcdefu” on TikTok, which has turned into an absolute hit, already boasting over 800 million streams. These days, you know your song is going to be a hit if you hear it trending on TikTok first! The audience was clearly loving every minute of her set, and her vibrant personality radiated during her performance.

Up next was Mimi Webb, a rising star making a name for herself. Tate’s tour was Mimi’s first time venturing across North America and she couldn’t have been more of a perfect fit for this tour! Like Gayle and Tate, Mimi pours her heart and soul into each song, and you can feel the emotion in every word she sings.

I first discovered Mimi’s music back in 2020 on TikTok and have been hooked ever since. It’s rare to love every song an artist has released, yet she has accomplished that for me, so seeing her set felt particularly special. And it seems the “House on Fire” singer is striking a chord nationally as she was recently featured on the final season of Ellen and The Tonight Show as a rising artist to watch. After seeing her perform live, the reason is clear: this girl is on fire and only getting started!

After two amazing sets, headliner Tate McRae arrived with an energy that is unmatched. Her choreography shines alongside her two incredibly talented backup dancers, Kerrynton Jones and Stevie Doré, while delivering fan favorites like “stupid” and “Bad Ones.” The element of dance adds such a show-stopping WOW factor to her performance.

The show was also a great time because her die-hard fans came decked out in T8 beanies and cowboy hats and couldn’t get enough belting the lyrics to every song like her recent singles, “feel like shit,” and her smash hit “you broke me first.”
