Review: For Thee Sacred Souls, love is always in the air [Photos]

The Sacred Souls (album) is out now on Daptone Records

With a mix of Chicano, Philly, Chicago, Memphis, and Panama soul, all sewn seamlessly together by Josh Lane‘s angelic vocals, Thee Sacred Souls’ music has filled rooms for people of all different backgrounds, sharing one common emotion: Love. Tonight, The Fillmore Silver Spring was just an extension of this experience. Love and compassion were palpable, with couples throughout the room sharing sweet moments left and right.

The show began with the unmistakable first notes of their hit song “Will I See You Again?” getting the entire room screaming in excitement. Frontman Josh Lane took the microphone and immediately placed himself in the hands of the crowd, giving fans up front an unforgettable moment to be that close. From the looks on their faces, it was clear a core memory was made.

Lane took many moments throughout the night to celebrate each and every person in the room, whether they were joined by a special someone or not. He also touched on a different kind of love before their song “Sorrow for Tomorrow”, about painful experiences we all share. Whether about losing a loved one or feeling the emotions of current events, the song’s minor tones touched everyone’s hearts in one way or another. Between slow love songs and ones that got the whole room dancing, along with Lane’s touching narrative, the collective experience of the show was inspiring, emotional, and beautiful.
