Floor Seats EP out via A$AP Worldwide/Polo Grounds/RCA Records
I finally got to see A$AP Ferg on his fall headline tour at The Fillmore Silver Spring. Although I’ve been listening to Ferg for years, I’ve never gotten to a chance to see one of his shows, but this latest tour couldn’t have been a better time to do so. In addition to hearing the huge hits we all know like “Plain Jane,” “WORK,” and “Shabba,” the New York rapper came ready to flex the must-hear tracks off his latest Floor Seats EP and as I suspected, it was a night I couldn’t miss.
With Floor Seats, there are no mincing words. A$AP Ferg navigates as a boss and it’s clear on the bars he’s spitting. From the EP’s title track to “Jet Lag” and later “Hummer Limo,” the rapper is unstoppable and makes it known over escalating and booming trap beats. The EP was first introduced with “Pups” featuring A$AP Rocky, which of course houses the infamous A$APMOB rowdiness that makes their live shows so insane.
Midway through the show, A$AP Ferg paused to honor Juice Wrld and A$AP Yams. A welcomed moment that appropriately led to “Yamborghini High,” “Hood Pope,” and “Wigs.” While the show turned up all night, “Dreams, Fairytales, Fantasies” brought the perfect 90s-R&B vibe to the night and A$AP Ferg’s new EP.
