Pulp’s first US tour in 12 years kicks off this September in Chicago

Iconic British band Pulp is making their long-awaited return to North America after over a decade with the This Is What We Do For An Encore tour, which kicks off at Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on September 8th.

Adding to the excitement of the highly-anticipated run, Pulp has announced the addition of a new tour date at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on September 21st. This historic venue, known for hosting unique events and serving as the final resting place for Hollywood legends, adds another unforgettable dimension to the tour experience.

The tour will feature openers Escape-ism, who has been described by Pulp lead singer Jarvis Cocker as “the Found-Sound-Dream-Drama featuring Ian Svenonius & Sandi Denton,” Escape-ism adds an extra layer of excitement to the tour lineup.

Pulp’s tour will also include stops in Toronto, New York, San Francisco, and additional dates in Los Angeles. Notably, the tour is dedicated to the memory of their bass player, Steve Mackey, who passed away on March 2, 2023. Mackey’s influence and contribution to Pulp’s music will undoubtedly be felt throughout the tour.

Formed in Sheffield in 1978, Pulp’s “classic” lineup is Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, and Russell Senior. Their landmark albums like Different Class and We Love Life continue to resonate with fans worldwide, inspiring generations with their distinctive sound and lyrical depth.
