Announces debut EP Hi, My Name is Pily, out 26 Feb via Platoon
Pilar Victoria has unveiled her new single, “80’s Movie,” and announced her forthcoming debut EP, Hi, My Name is Pily, will arrive on February 26th. Inspired by the iconic decade, the nostalgia-tinged track explores romantic themes from Pilar’s modern point of view. The song is accompanied by an enchanting visual, comprised of footage reminiscent of an idyllic 80’s summer.
Produced by Jacob Manson (Anne-Marie, Matoma) in Pilar’s hometown of Houston, Texas, Hi, My Name is Pily showcases the rising artist’s multi-instrumental talents, bilingual lyricism, and poignant perspective on teenage life.
In addition to “80’s Movie,” the six-track EP features the previously released singles “Space Song” and “I Left A Party For You,” the latter co-produced by John Carroll Kirby (Solange, Frank Ocean). Hi, My Name is Pily serves as an introduction to Pilar’s otherworldly story-telling ability and songwriting prowess that’s far beyond her years. Pilar Victoria is far from your average teenager. She initially began writing her own songs at age 12 and taught herself to play the ukulele, guitar, and piano in between school and learning to skateboard. Over the past two years, she’s self-released a handful of beautifully crafted songs, written in her bedroom in Houston. Since then, she’s caught the world’s attention all by herself and accumulated over 2 million streams on Spotify alone. With more music on the way, she’s an artist you can’t miss.
