Stream Mallrat’s follow-up to 2018’s In The Sky EP

On Friday, 20-year-old Australian artist Mallrat, born Grace Shaw, released her glimmering pop track “Nobody’s Home” featuring Basenji. The upbeat single interestingly highlights feelings of loneliness and restlessness Mallrat is experiencing at the hands of unrequited love. While the video finds the singer pulling flower petals to decide if she is or isn’t loved, home alone with her thoughts, and confessing her frustrations to a room only she occupies. Watch the video below.

In a press release, Mallrat explains the “song started as a voice memo, recorded in a bathroom in Japan, about a year and a half ago — my friend was sleeping in the next room so I turned on the shower and sung really quietly so that she wouldn’t hear me recording. About six months later I met up with Basenji in Sydney and the song started to take shape.”

The single is the singer’s first release of 2019 and the highly-anticipated follow-up to Mallrat’s In The Sky EPIn The Sky contains Australian Gold-certified single “Groceries,” “UFO” featuring Allday, and “Better” — three singles that collectively position Mallrat as one of the next big names to watch in pop music. Her singles “Groceries” and “UFO” also landed on the coveted Triple J Hottest 100 at #7 and #70, respectively. Stream In The Sky below.
