“Jealous” is available now: Stream
Boston artist Khamari has shared his debut single, “Jealous.” The track perfectly captures the introspective mindset of a creative working tirelessly to achieve his dreams. While already an arduous task on its own, it can be especially hard when trying to shake off distractions and discouragement. Led by a laidback guitar and R&B-tinged production, Khamari sings about working through mental deadlock, chasing paper, women, and fame. While recognizing he’s not quite yet a breakout success, and a little jealous of his thriving friends, he knows his sentiments are all just part of the ride.
While “Jealous” is Khamari’s debut release, it follows years of the artist drawing millions of streams for covering popular songs on SoundCloud. Already amassing over 50,000 followers on the platform, his smooth and entrancing vocals flow over into his debut release with ease. The track is the first of five upcoming releases that were self-written and produced by Khamari in his home. “Jealous” was later given a finishing production touch by close collaborators, Trackside (Selena Gomez, Tinashe, Majid Jordan).
A multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, Khamari is definitely an emerging artist to watch. He is a former Berklee College of Music student before departing early to pursue his career head-on.
