“Run” is available now: Stream
Brooklyn-based Canadian artist Jenny Kern is back with a dreamy new single, “Run,” produced by Andy Seltzer. Confessional and vulnerable, the song finds Kern admitting she’s not ready to let go of a new love interest she has wronged.
“I don’t wanna lose you now; we’ve only just begun,” she reveals over melodramatic guitars, arpeggio synths, and climactic drums. Later declaring she won’t be the one to run. The song captures Jenny’s knack for emotive, honest lyricism and an earnest indie-pop sound akin to LÉON but entirely her own. Check it out below.
“Run” is Jenny Kern’s second single of the year, following “Coming Back For Me,” another collaboration with Andy Seltzer. Released in January, the song quickly surpassed 50,000 streams and received radio play on XPN and NPR’s World Cafe. “Coming Back For Me” also caught the attention of legendary radio voice and programmer Bruce Warren.
Since emerging with her guitar-led debut single, “Slow Burn,” Jenny has developed a strong cult following and was immediately invited on her first international tour in Europe. She was also featured on MTV, ABC, and the CW.
In fall 2019, Jenny recorded two singles, “Satellite” and “Now We Know,” with producer Andy Seltzer (Maggie Rogers, Chelsea Cutler). Already landing on coveted Spotify playlists this year, like Fresh Finds, Indie All Stars, and New Music Friday, she’s an indie artist to watch out for this year.
