“Weird!” is out via Locomotion/Interscope
Following the success of his live stream show, British sensation Yungblud returns with a brand new single, “Weird!” A song about feeling “unified in the feeling that everything is going to be alright no matter how weird things get as long as we remain together.”
The highly-anticipated track kicks off a new “YB2” era the singer has been teasing since last year. Co-written by Matt Schwartz, the song was first teased in December when YUNGBLUD posted a poem titled “a weird time of life…” with the caption making it clear a song was in the works.
The warm 80s vibes make you want to blast it on the beach as the sun goes down. Unlike his previous releases, “Weird!” is not about being angry, it’s about staying positive. In an Instagram post, he shared the song was written about “the weirdest time in my life ever imaginable. It felt like the ground beneath me was a maze that was continually shapeshifting, and I felt like I was going to fall down the cracks all the time. However, I learned something new about how the rest of my life was going to be. I pictured everything that I’ve seen and then everything I was going to see in a moment of vertigo.”
The song was released when fans and the world need it the most, reassuring everyone that eventually it’ll be alright. In addition to the new track, YouTube recently announced the singer will feature on a new series called Stay Home With YUNGBLUD, which will air on the 27th of April at noon ET. We will get “an intimate look at his life & creative process during quarantine in LA.
