Sunflower Bean Hit COLORSxSTUDIOS, Playing Chicago June 19

The NYC trio enters a new era with a great COLORS debut, their most personal album yet.

Sunflower Bean is entering a bold new chapter and Chicago will witness it live at Sleeping Village on June 19. The New York-based trio will deliver a set shaped by rebirth, reflection, and a reinvigorated creative vision, touring in support of their new album, Mortal Primetime, out now on Lucky Number.

The show arrives just as the band makes a bold crossover onto COLORSxSTUDIOS, the globally acclaimed performance platform known for its minimalist aesthetic and genre-defining sessions. With their gripping performance of “Nothing Romantic,” Sunflower Bean becomes one of the first rock bands to ever appear on the COLORS stage, an undeniable sign of their evolving place in today’s music landscape.

Mortal Primetime

Mortal Primetime marks the group’s return after a three-year hiatus since Headful of Sugar. Written and self-produced during a period of personal upheaval and transformation, the album explores themes of control, identity, and resilience. “You get to decide what your prime is, and you fight for it. This is ours,” says frontwoman Julia Cumming.

With mixing by Caesar Edmunds (The Killers, Wet Leg) and engineering by Sarah Tudzin (Illuminati Hotties, boygenius), the album channels Sunflower Bean’s signature blend of alternative rock, psychedelic textures, and a widescreen sonic ambition.

Chicago Show & Tour

Sunflower Bean is quickly earning a reputation for their dynamic, no-frills live shows, and Sleeping Village is an ideal venue for the kind of cathartic, high-energy performance the band is known for. The June 19 stop lands mid-tour, following shows in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle.

After wrapping their U.S. run in Toronto on June 21, the trio will head overseas for a headlining UK and European tour this fall. The October run will visit cities like Manchester, Paris, and Amsterdam, culminating in a London show at The Dome on October 29.

Whether catching them stateside or abroad, fans can expect a setlist that honors the band’s past while charging fully into their future. See all future tour dates here.
