High Expectations is out via Polydor Records
London-based singer Mabel had an amazing 2019. Starting off the year with her biggest hit “Don’t Call Me Up,” the song unquestionably defined the past year for the rising singer-songwriter. Following the release of her debut album, High Expectations she completed a US tour along with a smaller UK Tour to celebrate the release. Charting high, the album hit the UK Top 40 list and became 2019s highest-selling debut album by a female artist in the UK.
It’s safe to say Mabel’s tour was highly anticipated seeing as by the time she kicked off in Dublin nearly all the dates were sold out including several shows in the UK and Europe. I stopped by at London’s Eventim Apollo to catch this unmissable show.
Surrounded by flames, incredible production, and her backup dancers, she kicked off the show with her hit single “Mad Love.” Throughout the show, she debuted brand new visuals along with a surprise guest performance of “Cigarettes” with Raye and British rapper Stefflon Don. The show definitely proved that Mabel is deserving of your attention. With high energy songs that got everyone jumping to chair choreography and slower more soulful songs like “OK (Anxiety Anthem)” – in which Mabel walks through the crowd interacting with her fans – it was an immersive and amazing experience.
From her most known songs like “Fine Line” and “Don’t Call Me Up,” to some of her older records like “Come Over” and “Thinking Of You,” Mabel continued to hype the crowd, at one point causing the sold-out Eventim Apollo to rap some Kojo Funds and light the venue with cell phone lights.

Another inspiring moment was when she stopped performing and jumped off stage quickly to check on a fan who got sick in the front row – later giving her a hug when realizing she was okay.
Since the show, Mabel continues her meteoric rise. Not only was it her birthday, but she also opened the BRITs and won Female Solo Artist exactly 30 years after her mother won the same award. Mabel is continuing her tour through Europe and recently announced her newest single “Boyfriend” will be out on the 26th of February. Find all future tour dates here and stream High Expectations.
