Noah Cyrus captures her unique sound with “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus“
On this soulful and heartfelt new single, Cyrus strays from the pop sound she’s experimented with in the past, following instead in the steps of her track “July.” Throughout the song, Noah shows off with her deep, honey-like vocals to deliver a comforting yet somber tone.
The singer has touched on what the track means to her – with themes of religion, her upbringing, existential dread, and her desire for a greater knowledge of life all playing key roles in its development. The track’s title and subsequent creation stem from an epiphany the singer had while smoking one night.
Cyrus also adds, touching on current events, “I hope this song resonates with people, especially with all that is going on in the world right now. Humans have evolved in so many beautiful ways, but we’ve also gotten so out of touch with the world, and each other. We’ve all lost sight of so many of the simplest things.” The new release is accompanied by a James Pereira-directed visual which delivers stunning scenes of Cyrus in a lake.
Noah’s latest track follows an already busy 2020, with sold-out crowds in London, New York City and Los Angeles enjoying the rising star’s high-energy performances. Stream her new single + see all coverage here.
