Krooked Kings has unveiled their latest single, “Sick of Being Young,” a poignant expression of frustration with societal expectations of youth, with the somber lyrics capturing the band rebelling against being told to “grow up” and act their age.
Since forming in 2019, the Utah-based quintet has proven its ability to write powerful and emotional tracks, and their recent single is no exception. “Sick of Being Young” speaks to the experiences of many young people, and is a testament to the band’s relatability and continued growth and maturity as songwriters.
Krooked Kings has come a long way from their humble beginnings as college friends playing backyard shows at the University of Utah, and the buzz around their recent collaboration with Day Wave on “Carbon Monoxide” has only added to the excitement surrounding them.
Busy in the studio working on their next album, with Day Wave recording the sophomore effort, Krooked Kings are poised to solidify their fixture in the indie music world as they follow up their breakout single, “‘96 Subaru,” which has accumulated over three million streams, and their debut project, The Comedown, which was released to much fanfare in 2021.
In support of their new music and following a sold-out show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, the band will embark on a 12-date tour next month, including a stop at SXSW, so be sure to catch them live if you’re a fan of heartfelt indie rock.
