“Never Gonna Be The Same” Tour kicks off June 7: Tickets
Indie sensation Jeff Draco is back to unveil a new single, “Never Gonna Be The Same.” The song arrives as a surprise release donning the same name as Jeff’s previously-announced and quickly-selling US tour, due to kick off on June 7th in Richmond, Virginia, with stops in Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Wilmington, and DC.
Months in the making, “Never Gonna Be The Same” sees Draco again collaborating with rising indie darling Blake Ruby on co-production to create a forward-thinking song that tested the limits of his songwriting and creativity. The end result is a gritty release oozing with nostalgia, slick guitar riffs, and intricately layered sound textures. A song that contemplates both the changes affecting society around him, like violence in schools, and the changes he’s facing personally as he goes from a recent college graduate to now facing a new world filled with uncertainty, ‘Never Gonna Be The Same’ is meant to be as much a step back as it is a reason just to let go and dance as the world burns.
“’NGBTS’ is about change, navigating the world as a young person, and trying to figure out how to deal with the weight of the world. It’s such a confusing time, things can feel scary, crazy, and in a lot of ways, like things are moving backward,” shares JeffDraco on the new single. “Part of this song is about the isolation that comes from a need to look out for ourselves because it doesn’t feel like anyone else from the top down can anymore or will, and a push to advocate for those who come behind us, too, since the systems currently in place aren’t always equipped to solve issues.”
Continuing to share the significance of the lyrics, Draco commented: “Some of the lines touch on gun violence, and when I say, ‘they can never keep the kids in school,’ that’s a direct commentary on all of the recent violence we’ve seen across the US and a critique of the systems in place that are failing. It’s not meant to be political in any way, but as a people, we’re asking for change, and there are answers in front of us that could help solve these issues. The other aspect of the song is more introspectively about isolation and change as I’m freshly out of college and now learning how to exist in the ‘real world.’ In both situations, I look back and realize things are never gonna be the same.”
The song lands as Jeff Draco is set to take his euphoric sound on the road this summer on the Never Gonna Be The Same Tour. Kicking off on June 7th in Richmond, the eight-show run will ignite stages in a string of vibrant cities, including Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Wilmington, before culminating with a monumental hometown finale on June 17th at Union Stage.
The Never Gonna Be The Same Tour sees Draco returning to the stage following the release of “Letters,” a mesmerizing alt-pop track that led The Luna Collective to declare him “on track to become the next household name in the indie music scene,” and a year that has already welcomed opening slots for Carlie Hanson and Sophie Powers at Ottobar, and The Crystal Casino Band at 930 Club.
A night of nostalgic pop with dreamy, surf-rock tendencies, Jeff Draco’s upcoming tour will be the first opportunity for fans in major cities to hear “Dreamgirl,” the sleeper hit which has already soared beyond 540k+ streams and 2022 EP, Freezing in Hollywood, which has accumulated 180k streams, gained support from Wonderland, Live Nation’s Ones To Watch NMF playlist, and prompted Kinda Cool Magazine to name Jeff Draco one of its top Undiscovered Artists of 2022.
Led by his new single, “Never Gonna Be The Same,” others in the pipeline, and fan favorites like “For Too Long” and “Feel So Gold” at Draco’s ready disposal, the Never Gonna Be The Same Tour will be one of the best shows of the summer.
