Gina Birch shares “Doom Monger,” new solo album arrives July 11

Trouble is out July 11th on Third Man Records
Gina Birch, the legendary co-founder of The Raincoats, is back with a new single, “Doom Monger,” ahead of her eagerly awaited second solo album, Trouble. Set for release on July 11, 2025, this track captures the essence of longing for peace amidst chaotic times, showcasing Birch’s unique artistry and emotional depth.
“Doom Monger” is a vibrant exploration of the overwhelming feelings many experience today, yet it manages to shine a light on hope and resilience. Propelled by Birch’s energetic basslines and pulsating drum machine beats, the song is elevated by an official music video directed by Birch herself, along with renowned filmmaker Dean Chalkley.
In a recent statement, Birch explained the inspiration behind “Doom Monger”: “This is about the world going to hell in a handcart, feeling overwhelmed but yearning for peace and happiness.” Her candidness resonates throughout the album, as she shares personal stories and reflections that challenge societal norms. Birch’s artistic vision comes to life in the music video for “Doom Monger,” which showcases a playful yet complex visual experience. Watch below.
The release of Trouble coincides with a North American tour beginning October 10 in Washington, DC, supporting the Miki Berenyi Trio. This 15-city tour promises to be an unforgettable experience as Birch performs tracks from her new album. See all tickets here.
