Bad Bunny won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, and the room erupted as the album’s title track blasted over the speakers. Benito stayed seated with his face in his hand, taking it all in, before heading to the stage to accept the history-shifting award.

When he spoke, he addressed Puerto Rico first: “Believe me when I tell you we’re so much bigger than 100×35.” It’s a familiar shorthand for the island’s approximate dimensions—about 100 miles by 35 miles—and the moment on the Grammy stage did the talking for him.

He dedicated the win to the diaspora, too: “I want to dedicate this award to all the people that had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams.”

Debí Tirar Más Fotos is the first Spanish-language album to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and Benito used the moment to speak with pride, gratitude, and purpose. Watch the acceptance speech below and stream DtMF.
