New York-based indie duo Babehoven is back with an enchanting new single, “Ella’s From Somewhere Else.” The tender ballad, which serves as the closing track of their upcoming album, Water’s Here In You, is a poignant exploration of memory, love, and longing.

Inspired by a performance by Ella O’Conner Williams of Squirrel Flower, Maya Bon, one half of the duo, penned the haunting lyrics of “Ella’s From Somewhere Else.” The song seamlessly weaves together childhood memories with the companionship of a beloved pet, creating a narrative that resonates deeply with listeners.

The accompanying music video, directed by Bon and Ryan Albert alongside Kia Wassenaar, captures the ethereal quality of the song. Shot in intimate, candlelit settings, the video invites viewers into a world of introspection and nostalgia. Watch below.

Consequence, who premiered the track and featured the band today, is calling it “a gentle and somber (though not downtrodden) folk outing that taps into the beauty of romance, familial love, and loss.”

Recorded at their home studio, 12 Lb Genius, Water’s Here In You marks a significant evolution in Babehoven’s sound. With Albert joining Bon as a songwriter, the album promises a collection of songs that unfold like intricate tapestries, blending haunting vocals with lush harmonic landscapes.
