googly eyes announces new EP, shares “Bruises on the Peach”

googly eyes is back with “Bruises on the Peach.” Written with Tove Lo and Flume and co-produced with Flume, the song finds a clean meeting point between their worlds without blurring googly eyes’ infectious sound.

Tove’s pop instincts sit alongside Flume’s restless, glitchy palette, while googly eyes holds the core with her confessional songwriting, fluttery vocal and vibrant production. The result is a bright electropop cut about trust, which can be steadying one moment and splitting the next.

Lyrically, googly doesn’t romanticize vulnerability; she names it as risk. “To be known and loved deeply means sharing all your fears, insecurities, and pain points with someone,” she explains. “It’s a fragile ecosystem—you’re giving someone the blueprint to either wound you beyond repair or soothe your deepest hurts. That takes immense trust.” The song moves like that line under pressure.

This is the trio’s third collab after “I Don’t Go Out” and “Made Of,” and it arrives with the announcement of googly eyes’ new EP, paint me like one of your fav american girls, due March 13 via Tove’s Pretty Swede, Neon Gold, and Virgin.

Until now, googly eyes has been sole songwriter, producer, and creative lead—building glitchy, technicolor songs from the heart, best heard across 2024’s Starlet EP and standouts “Mid-Leap,” “Internet Star,” and “Waste of Conversation.” The new EP signals a shift toward letting trusted collaborators into the room—not to dilute the vision, but to widen the frame. Watch the video below.

That openness traces back to the origin story these artists share. In 2023, Tove Lo and Flume posted an artist-development open call and sifted through thousands of demos before choosing googly eyes. Nearly two years later, the partnership is finally finding its full form, with paint me like one of your fav american girls positioned as the emotional and sonic thesis of their meeting.

Stream “Bruises on the Peach,” watch the video, and pre-save the EP ahead of its March 13th release.
