Immunity is out via FADER Label
A few weeks ago, alt-pop artist Clairo returned to D.C. to play songs from her debut album, Immunity. Just days away from completing her latest North American run, she played a packed 9:30 Club and it was a great show.
Immunity arrived in August after Clairo teased the album with “Bags,” a soft-rock anthem about unrequited love, “Closer to You” and the electropop gem, “Sofia.” The latter two tracks were co-written by Rostam, formerly of Vampire Weekend, who also co-produced the album.
In addition to hearing those tracks live, Clairo continues to push forward with an impressive debut album that makes a strong case for her staying power. Her show at 930 Club opened with “Alefwife” and “Impossible” – the two tracks that open Immunity. “Softly” found Clairo on the guitar shortly after, with the crowd humming along to the track’s mellow beat.
That hum turned into an outright singalong as “Flaming Hot Cheetos” and Cuco collab “Drown” surprised 930’s crowd. So many people were so hyped to hear “Drown” live, myself included. It’s just one of a few collabs Clairo has locked down since transitioning into a mainstream artist. She also recently worked with Mura Masa on the electro-punk “I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again,” which closed the show, and SG Lewis on multiple releases.

In all, Clairo played her entire debut album, any fans’ dream when attending a concert, as well some of her biggest tracks to date like “4Ever,” “Bubble Gum” and “Sis.” After seeing her show, it’s clear her debut album has no skips and her live show was just as engaging, fun, and personal as her album feels.
